Which data do I need to choose the right chiller for me?
For the first round of basic sizing, all you’ll need is the type of coolant, expected temperature range (output and return values), and the flow rate
If you these are unknown, we can rely on the heat loss of the target machinery, and requirements for the coolant.

Why is environmental temperature important?
The cooling power supplied by a cooling cycle depends heavily on the temperature of the environment surrounding its components. This means that on a hot summer day, a chiller might not be able to deliver its nominal cooling power, while in the cold of winter, it might even surpass it.
Efficiency is also influenced by the working point, i.e. the coolant temperature.
The role of maintenance
It is sad to see that maintenance is often neglected for short-term savings. This practice leads to a faster wear of cooling machines, and can quickly cause more serious malfunctions.
Before you decide to skip or postpone prescribed maintenance, it’s recommended to assess the possible costs of repair or the damage caused by a shutdown.

To avoid unplanned shutdowns and effectively control your processes, a live-monitoring system should be installed (recording power cycles, filter values, etc.). This can give an early warning of failures in your cooling systems.

Refrigerant is the material “in the cooling-cycle”, that is used to transfer the energy supplied by a compressor as heat. Commonly referred to as “AC gas”
Coolant is the medium – mostly liquid – that delivers “cold” to the place where it is needed. E.g: soft water.
